To learn more about Growing Things, Prep students went on a trip to Kuntum Nursery today. We had a briefing from Ibu Ken as the program coordinator in Kuntum Nursery. After that, we had a tour to see many kinds of plants and seeds. We observed Flowering Plants such as Magnolia Viginiana, Sutra Bombay, Jasmine, Anthurium, as well as Plants for Medicine such as Adas Manis (Anethum graveolens), Mahkota Dewa (Phaleria macrocarpaand), Lidah Buaya (Aloe Vera Linn). Some students tasted the leaves of Medicinal Plants. Prep students also saw how to make natural fertilizer. They went to the vegetable garden and harvested corn and peanuts. After harvesting some vegetables, they went to the fruit garden and watched gardeners pick some fruits from the tree.
Prep students were excited and they were really curious. They asked questions about kinds of plants and touched the plants. The weather was sunny but it did not stop them observing plants in Kuntum Nursery.
After the tour, they rested in a gazebo and ate their snacks. Before they returned to the school, they listened to an explanation about how to plant a Caisim. They saw the seeds, 2 week old Caisim, and 1 month old Caisim. Two students were allowed to practice planting Caisim in front of their friends. Each of students got seeds and 1 month old Caisim plant to take home.
It was time to go back to school, but and before we left, we took a picture with all of the Kuntum Nursery family. Thanks for the trip

Prep A Students Are Learning Direction

To make the lesson more interesting, students went to the playground for a game. We call it "Blindfold". Teacher put an object on the playground and asked a student to find with his or her friends' assistance or guidance.

Students took turns to be blindfolded and stood in the middle of the playground. The others guided him or her to move forward and backward, turn left and turn right. All students were very excited to take a turn. They were happy when they found the target.

Public Places

"Public Places" is the title for our second theme. The students study about public places that are located in strategic area. To find out what public places located in strategic area, we go around our city (Bogor, Indonesia) and visit "Botani Square" mall. After the trips, Students draw what public places they think located in strategic area. Then they present their drawing in front of the class. This activity is good for them to practice their communication skills. They learn how to deliver information clearly and independently.
