Students are expected to be able to solve challenges, participate in small group activities and combine loco-motor and non loco-motor. They are creating shapes using parts of body to create different types of houses (shape combinations) using equipment.

Students folded origami paper into different shapes.

Reading is Fun

A free website for students to learn reading (www.starfall.com). They really like this online reading game.

Flores House

Students made a Flores house.

Home Sweet Home

Our first Transdisciplinary Theme is “Who We Are” and the title is “Home Sweet Home”. We learn about the concept of home, different types of homes and circumstances that determine where people live. On Friday/14 August 2009, we went to Taman Mini Indonesia Indah to see traditional Indonesian houses.

A Visit to Different Workplaces

To find out different jobs people do in different workplaces, we visited 2 workplaces which are Sport Club Bogor Raya and Permata Bank. We learned about people who work there and how the jobs are connected.

A Trip to Papa Rons Pizza

Today, we went to Papa Rons Pizza to support our unit titled “Workplaces”. We learned about restaurants as a workplace and people who work in there. The students got an opportunity to be a cook and made pizza themselves. They were very excited.

Classifying Jobs

As we mentioned earlier in this blog, we are learning about “Workplaces”. We provided pictures of different kinds of jobs to support the learning experience. Each student got a turn to classify the jobs based on the workplaces.

Our Celebration Scrapbook

The central idea of our theme title is 'Family recognize important personal and cultural events through celebrations and traditions'. Students made a scrapbook for Summative assessment. They collected photos about celebrations they held in their familes, pasted their photos in their scrapbooks and decorated them. They presented the scrapbooks to the class at the end of the period.

PYP Parents Info Session

On Friday/January 16, 2009, we held our fourth Parents Info Session to introduce our new theme titled "Celebrate!". The aim of this session is to develop positive parent partnership and involvement. For those who did not attend the session, you can get the information from the presentation below. First we introduced the new theme "Celebrate" to the parents and then we showed them some activities that their children have done on the previous theme.
